The Measure of Our Success
The Struggle for Dignity, Unity, and Self-Rule in Ifedore
About the Author
What His Father Asked of Him…
Banji Ayiloge is the son of Chief Titus Eniola Ayiloge, the Ologbosere of Ijare and Baale of Olorunsogo-Akunrin, one of the most consequential figures in Ifedore’s modern political history. Banji grew up hearing the stories of a people who refused to be spoken about without being allowed to speak for themselves.
In the early 1990s, his father came to Brooklyn for medical treatment, and a short visit stretched into six months of urgent conversation. Banji found himself in the unlikely role of both caregiver and scribe. Between clinic appointments and quiet evenings, he listened as his father laid out decades of political history, the arrests, the alliances, the betrayals, the hard-won victories, with the clarity of a man racing against time.
“This thing must be completed,” his father said, reading the first draft. “Even if only as a pamphlet. I must take it home.” The Measure of Our Success is Banji Ayiloge’s fulfillment of that promise, offered to every community whose history has been drowned out by louder narratives.
“This book is my effort to fulfill that promise. It is, first, a tribute to a father whose life embodied service, sacrifice, and unwavering conviction. Above all, it is a reminder that the measure of our success lies not only in the battles we win, but also in the stories we choose to preserve.”

Dedication
To my father, Chief Titus Eniola Ayiloge, whose courage, clarity of purpose, and devotion to justice shaped both our family’s story and the political conscience of Ifedore. And to future generations of Ifedore: may this record remind you that dignity must be defended, memory preserved, and history carried forward.
